Remember The Milk and smart date preference option design

I tried out the to-do list service Remember The Milk today and found it to be a very good web application from the start. When signing up you are presented with a very simple Javascript validated form that can be filled out within a minute. What impressed me though is the clever way they managed to present date format to users. My attempts at work have often gone too complex by offering DD/MM/YYY, MM/DD/YYY, YYYY-MM-DD, and other options that people are unlikely to ever use.

Remember The Milk's take on the problem was quite simple, it just asked the user which format they preferred out of 14/02/07 and 02/14/07. What they were asking was very easy to understand and, in my opinion, provided just the right amount of user customization and application simplicity.
